I just ordered a free sample of carbonyl iron powder, for purposes of better homemade magnetorheological fluid. I usually hate dealing with industrial suppliers, but the free samples thing is pretty cool. Of course, if I ever want to buy some for real, I won't be able to get less than a ton.
