First I installed a cheap 400W power supply in the giant old case I picked up from Re-PC yesterday. (This required the creative use of a hacksaw to accomplish, but after some filing it looks halfway decent.) The case is now ready, I just need to wait until the wee hours to perform the CNS transplant and izzard will have its new body. I then ordered 6 120GB drives to put in the case. Along with the controller I ordered yesterday this means everything I need for my new RAID is here or on the way. Half a terabyte, drooooool. That should last me for at least two years. Maybe 18 months.
I finally modified my old Euterpe applet to send searches to the DJ instead of doing in locally. I can now highlight text, click on the Euterpe applet, and all the mp3s in my collection matching the text are enqueued for play.
Going for a clean sweep of my mp3 infrastructure, I also finally got around to fixing my physical mp3 switches. (Seen in this image.) The red switch when flipped up plays and pauses when flipped down. The black switch is a nifty little side-to-side momentary. Left previous song, right next song. The LED is just a status light showing that the control software is running. (I needed to bring out a +5v line anyway so the switches had something to pull high with.) Turns out the parallel port got turned off in BIOS during the mobo switch between ibex and ibid -- annoying but an easy fix. This also interfaces with the DJ, making for a nicely insane little convergence of tools.
