Snowhenge/neoprene

So, as you might have heard, Seattle has been getting a lot (for this area) snow over the last few days. Tonight is probably the last hurrah before it melts off, so I decided to go out and enjoy the ridiculously flakes coming down.

While suiting up, a thought occurred to me. I have these thin neoprene gloves for paddling. The point of neoprene is that it gets wet, then holds the water there so it warms up to body temperature. Which sounded fairly good for playing with snow -- your gloves ALWAYS get soaked, so why not use ones designed for it? Should be better than knitted mittens, which the snow sticks to, or thick insulated gloves that restrict your dexterity too much.

First, I built a snowhenge. Cause, you know, if you're going to build something, it might as well be classic.

And this is the state of the gloves after I was done. They were a bit damp, but my hands stayed very warm the entire time. The snow didn't stick to them at all, tactile transmission was very good, and they barely restricted finger movement at all. Without a doubt, these are the best gloves I have ever used for playing with snow. Everyone should get a pair.

Aren't henges supposed to have lintels?

If you're gonna build something, it might as well be phallic.

I saw a couple of girls sitting in snow thrones on the way home yesterday.

*gigglesnort*

I got home and my first thought was that some of the neighbor kids had exhausted their snow and decided to use ours. (What the hell, we weren't using it.)

It's mostly gone, alas.

By the way, gloves *aren't* always going to get soaked no matter what. The ones I got at REI for skiing are always as waterproof as advertised. I just didn't *have* them earlier this week.
