Fishy's Week of Movies
A bit over a week ago I realized that I was falling behind in my theatrical releases. In order to prevent missing any I decided to see one every day during the work week. It worked so well that I extended it to an entire week just because I could. Anyway, 'Fishy's Work Week of Movies' is awkward and, truth be told, I was planning this post the entire time. Links are to my in-depth reviews on Melpomene.
Going to a movie every day is... tiring.
xiadyn and I joke about buying full passes to SIFF some year and doing nothing but watch movies for two weeks. I'm not sure I could really do it now.
- Punch-Drunk Love
- Mmmmm. Adam Sandler was... good! Not for those who don't enjoy depictions of bleak modern alienation.
- The Truth About Charlie
- Blech. Horribly directed and/or edited.
- Heaven
- Yummy but very light fare.
- Naqoyqatsi
- Eh. I'm still a big fan of plot. But now I've seen all of the -qatsi films and can say they aren't my thing with authority.
- The Ring
- Quite good. Not actually scary, but well done. Redeemed itself from being just a generic horror film at the end.
- The Evil Dead
- Okay, this wasn't a new release, but it was the midnight movie this week at the Egyptian. Fun to see with a big goofy crowd.
- The Transporter
- A nice surprise. Nothing too special, but some very clever action sequences.
