Foxes domesticated through the power of SOVIET SCIENCE!

I'd really like to work on domesticating a new crop someday. It would be deeply pleasing to feel that connection to very beginnings of civilization. The agricultural revolution is pretty old hat these days, but it was certainly a much bigger deal than the industrial revolution in the greater scheme of things. It really doesn't get as much attention as it deserves, probably because brass gears and steam are a bit sexier than quern stones and communicable diseases. Too bad. I think grainpunk would be hawesome.

The thing I've read about that would be the coolest, would be learning the secrets of the sweet acorn, and coming up with an oak tree that could make sweet acorns every time. That would be awesome.

grainpunk!

Heh. A chance for appropriate use of this icon.
I dunno, being one of those mapper throwbacks to hunter-gatherers that doesn't do as ideally well in our packer farming-based society, I'm not *quite* as inclined to view it as ideal, though it certainly insured the survival of the race for a while.

Well, I'm glad we've moved on to post-industrial, but since we couldn't get here without agriculture, I'm all for it. I just like technology.

Certainly a better way of promoting permaculture than "GMO suxxorz!"
