Printing press restoration continues, but has been going pretty slowly. I've been really busy with things like the scuba classes. Currently I'm just going through the smaller parts and electrostripping them and spraying on some primer. There aren't too many left, outside of random nuts and bolts, that are going to fit in my current tub. I'm going to need to go a lot bigger for the frame and flywheel.

I'm still looking for a spraypaint of the correct color for the final coats. I've decided to go for the original factory paint scheme: dark blue with gold highlights. I'm always amused by the Victorian's color sense. They got a bit carried away with all the new paints available. Exuberant, maybe even flamboyant. We only think of them as all dour and dark because the paint didn't last.

I finally found the serial number: 26409. That puts the manufacture date sometime early in 1891. 115 years old. Not bad. Happy birthday, old guy.

So soon, you'll be able to print your own books? Heck, then you can review the books you've printed, sell them to the library, and be your own self-contained Y.A.A.C.!

...oh wait, we're not so Y anymore...ack.

Oh man, YAAC, I hadn't thought of that in ages. And no, we're getting pretty solidly not at all young. Weirdness.

Also, hey there. :)

That is so cool! I am jealous. One day I would love to do that. Awsome pictures of the process!

Hey there to you, too. Came across a video of the "High Noon" Y.A.A.C. party I had over at my house while unpacking. Ah, to be younger, with a trampoline, and get Water In The Face. I guess it's nice to know I'm only slightly less clueless now than I was then.

...back when I first started learning about HTML and forms, I attempted to revive Y.A.A.C. online, at least in the way of allowing people everywhere to review books. I don't even know what became of it; I think the server it was on is long since gone.
