Child of a Metal God

i live in the midwest (i'm in purple, my state is blue but this area is decidedly red). and one thing i've noticed is that it is not just conservatives who are against gay marriage. black voters, a huge percentage of the dem vote in illinois, also seem to be against it. that particular question trancends party politics, there is a lot more to deal with than just issues of conservative and liberal. very very few of the democrats that i know personally have any progressive/liberal leaning at all, they vote dem just because they always have... and if too much comes at them, they might jump ship too.
