The 4th floor men's washroom, surrounded by labs and grad student offices, now has a poster for a suicide prevention hotline. That doesn't seem like a good sign.
Really? My mom told me scare stories all the time about why I should never leave a drink unattended at a bar or a party. It's why you'll A) almost never see me put a drink down when I do have one, and B) pretty much only drink when I feel safe and that there are a lot of people around that I trust, ex. Nerdvana parties.
One time I met up with someone new for tea, ended up needing to use the restroom partway through my time with them, and didn't touch my drink after I came back to the table. *shrug* It's kinda paranoid, but I'd rather err on the side of safety.
I don't think I would even have thought of that unless the person seemed hinky. (that's my word-of-the-day, apparently: "hinky") I don't generally drink out of a can I've left behind on a table at the Center, either, especially if I'm not there with someone.
